Hello, and thank you for taking
a closer look at our homepage (Hotelpage would have been a better
name, but you can't have it all).
The Dutch, as you can ask any Belgian person, are scrooges. And
because we, from Hotel Prinsenhof, are Dutch, we decided
to join you people here on the Web for the sole reason that e-mail
is much cheaper than sending faxmessages all over the world. The
fact that we got 5MB to play with and create a hotelpage was neither
here nor there, but that's where the scrooge-part comes in; What
you have you should use, otherwise it's wasted money.
So, then you have a minor problem. What to "enrich" your visitors with? Only hotel information by itself will not be enough to fill 5MB with unless you put photographs of everything on the page, including the boiler room. Are you getting exited already? We weren't. After having surfed the web for about a year and a half in an internetcafe here in Amsterdam, we have come across too many pages that are interesting for the pagemaker and/ or friends only. We decided that it could be done in a different way too, without having to press the hotelpublicity too much. After all, we have only 10 rooms, and they are full a lot of the time. (People do come back to us, you see...)
No, this page had to be about
two things. Firstly, of course, about Hotel Prinsenhof, and second,
about something we love, as we come from this town. So, Amsterdam
it was going to be. Not in the way as in some guidebooks, not
in the way the Tourism Board depicts it, not in the way your friendly
couple from down the road who've been to Emsterdem can
tell you all about it, but with the eyes and heart of a local
amongst the locals. Not sparing the dark sides of the city, chanting
about the local highlights (ever visited the local songcontest
in the Jordaan, with the mini playbackshow for kids?) , giving
you the answers to the most asked questions here in the hotelreception
and more.
Of course, these are prestigious
promises. They will take time to fulfill. At the time of writing
this (October 1998) our homepage is about one year old, we've
learned a lot about making homepages (including how much time they take...), yet expansion is taking more time than forseen, not in the last place because we've

had a very busy summer. Also, all the photographs on the pages are our own. This takes up a lot of time as well. Patience
is a virtue as they say, and that's what you'll have to have.
But if you want to learn more about our city or the hotel, please
do come back to our page as we plan to be constantly working on
this project as time in the hotel allows us. (Glad to be able
to say we're busy)
